Trump Doubts Iran Peace Proposal, Says Deal May Be Unacceptable

US President Donald Trump has said he will examine a new peace proposal submitted by Iran but has expressed scepticism over whether the deal is acceptable.

In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump said that while he would review the proposal, he does not believe it meets necessary conditions, citing Iran’s past actions.

“I can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years,” he wrote.

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Tehran has submitted a 14-point response to a US-backed proposal aimed at reducing tensions between both countries.

The US proposal reportedly called for a two-month ceasefire, but Iran has countered with a shorter 30-day timeline, insisting that discussions should focus on ending the conflict rather than extending a truce.

Iran’s response is said to include demands such as guarantees of non-aggression, withdrawal of US military presence near its borders, lifting of a naval blockade, and the release of frozen Iranian assets abroad.

Other reported conditions include compensation payments, removal of sanctions, an end to hostilities across multiple regional fronts including Lebanon, and a revised framework for operations in the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the United States has reportedly accelerated the approval of billions of dollars in arms sales to allies including Israel, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait, according to statements from the US State Department.
