Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Defeat Insecurity, Commends Nigerian Youths

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration remains determined to overcome terrorism and banditry across the country.

The President gave the assurance on Saturday during the inauguration of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, alongside several other development projects.

Tinubu stated that ongoing investments in security infrastructure, including the deployment of operational vehicles, reflect the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He emphasized that more resources would continue to be channeled into strengthening national security.

Expressing optimism about the nation’s future, the President also applauded Nigerian youths for their dedication and hard work, noting that they remain central to the country’s growth and progress.

The event, hosted by Governor Dapo Abiodun, was originally scheduled earlier in the week but was rescheduled following the President’s visit to Jos to sympathise with victims of a recent attack.

Gunmen had earlier carried out a deadly assault in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government Area, leaving several people dead and others injured.

At the commissioning ceremony, Tinubu described the airport as a significant milestone, highlighting its independent power supply system driven by investments in gas and energy. He noted that the facility represents a major step forward in infrastructure development.

The President also expressed satisfaction with other initiatives unveiled at the event, including advancements in transportation, agriculture, and security.

He specifically praised the introduction of electric motorcycles, describing the rollout of 1,000 units as an innovative and environmentally friendly approach to modern transportation.

During his arrival, Tinubu exchanged greetings with elder statesmen, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba, acknowledging their presence at the event.

The President also presided over the unveiling of new commercial aircraft for Gateway Air, a state-owned airline operated in partnership with ValueJet, as well as the commissioning of facilities belonging to the Nigeria Customs Service.
