Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is expected in Plateau State on Wednesday as part of efforts to strengthen security and respond to recent attacks across the state.

At least 20 people have been killed in separate attacks by gunmen in several Plateau communities over the past week.

The Plateau State Police Command announced the IGP’s planned visit on Tuesday in a media invitation signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo.

The Command said the visit is aimed at strengthening security cooperation, assessing police formations and engaging with key stakeholders in the state.

“The Plateau State Police Command cordially invites members of the media on the Plateau to cover the official visit of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc+, NPM, to Plateau State,” the statement partly read.

According to the itinerary, Disu is expected to arrive at the Jos Airport at 9:30am on Wednesday. He will then pay a courtesy visit to the state governor at 10:30am before proceeding to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) at noon.

The IGP is also scheduled to inspect the Police Staff College, Jos, at 3:00pm.

On Thursday, September 17, 2026, Disu will inspect the Plateau State Police Headquarters in Jos at 10:00am before departing for the Jos Airport at 2:00pm.

The visit follows recent attacks reported in parts of Mangu Local Government Area on September 12 and an incident at Dungus Junction, Kuru, in Jos South Local Government Area on September 13, which left people dead and others injured.

The Police Command urged media organisations to deploy reporters and cameramen to cover the scheduled activities.

“All media organisations are kindly requested to be present and to deploy their reporters and cameramen to cover the events,” the statement added.
