The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has enrolled a total of 5,099 applicants under its ongoing Special Passport Intervention Exercise for Nigerians in the United Kingdom.

The figure followed the enrolment of an additional 516 applicants at the London and Manchester centres on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

In its Day 12 update shared on its official X handle on Sunday, the NIS said 370 applicants were enrolled in Manchester, while 146 were processed in London.

The Service said, “The Special Passport Intervention Exercise continued yesterday across the London and Manchester Centers uninterrupted, with a total of 516 applicants enrolled, 370 in Manchester and 146 in London.

“This brings the total enrollment since the commencement of the exercise to 5,099 applicants.”

The NIS also confirmed that passport production and dispatch for applicants previously enrolled in the exercise were progressing smoothly.

“The exercise remains ongoing, and applicants are enjoined to continue cooperating with officials,” it added.

The special intervention exercise began on September 7, 2026, following a directive from the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The programme is aimed at addressing backlogs involving new passport applications, renewals and other pending cases among Nigerians living in the United Kingdom.

The high demand for the service led to an extension of operations in London and Manchester beyond the initially scheduled mid-September closing date.

Eligible applicants are required to book appointments through official NIS channels and appear at the designated centres with the necessary documentation.
