Nigerian DJ Association Slams Temporary Ban on Burna Boy’s Songs After Clash with DJ Tunez

The Nigerian DJ Association has declared a temporary boycott of Burna Boy’s music after an alleged clash between the Grammy-winning artist and DJ Tunez at a private event in Lagos.

According to eyewitness accounts circulating online, the incident occurred inside a nightclub, where a disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation. Burna Boy and members of his entourage were alleged to have been involved, with DJ Tunez said to have been assaulted during the altercation.

In a statement shared via Instagram on Tuesday, the association expressed solidarity with DJ Tunez, instructing DJs both in Nigeria and in the diaspora to refrain from playing Burna Boy’s songs until further notice.

“Burna Boy’s music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists till further notice,” the statement read, adding that a full investigation into the incident is underway.

The association emphasised its commitment to protecting DJs and promoting fairness within the entertainment industry. It called on members to remain professional, vigilant, and respectful in their engagements with artists.

Reiterating its stance on equality and non-discrimination, the body stressed that all DJs deserve equal treatment, dignity, and opportunity, regardless of circumstances.

The group also urged unity within the industry, encouraging members to reject prejudice and uphold the values of fairness and mutual respect.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from Burna Boy or his management regarding the allegations or the directive issued by the DJ association.
