MTN Nigeria has achieved two major international certifications — ISO/IEC 20000 for IT Service Management Systems and ISO/IEC 38500:2024 for IT Governance Management Systems.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the company said the recognitions highlight its dedication to delivering reliable, well-governed, and continuously improving technology services to customers and stakeholders across the country.

The ISO/IEC 20000 certification is a globally recognised standard for organisations that demonstrate excellence in the design, delivery, and management of IT services. By attaining this certification, MTN Nigeria has reaffirmed the strength of its governance structure, operational discipline, and commitment to service quality. The certification also reflects the company’s ability to provide consistent and customer-focused IT services in line with international best practices.

In addition, the company successfully passed the audit for the ISO/IEC 38500:2024 IT Governance Management System, becoming the first telecommunications company in Nigeria — and within the MTN Group — to achieve this standard.

This certification covers the governance of IT-enabled services, systems, and data management processes that support the company’s operations. It ensures that MTN Nigeria’s use of technology aligns with its corporate strategy while promoting accountability, ethical decision-making, leadership effectiveness, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Speaking on the achievement, Acting Chief Information Officer, Bukola Ajayi, said the certifications reflect the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest global standards.
