Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, has continued to engage Labour Party members, community leaders and other political stakeholders as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His engagements have focused on communication, inclusion, peaceful participation and stronger coordination among party members, elected officials, political appointees and community representatives.

At a Labour Party gathering in Arochukwu Local Government Area on September 18, 2026, where he represented Governor Alex Otti, Emetu welcomed new members into the party and emphasised the importance of youth and women in political participation. (abiawatch.com)

He urged party members to familiarise themselves with the organisation’s constitution and principles, while encouraging leaders to listen to residents and maintain effective communication with members.

Emetu also advised political candidates to remain accessible and connected to the people they seek to represent, stressing that securing a party ticket should mark the beginning of an obligation to serve rather than the end of political engagement.

He called for cooperation between candidates and party leaders, saying individual political ambitions should be aligned with the broader objectives of the party and the interests of the state.

The Arochukwu event also featured the admission of new members from other political parties into the Labour Party. The members were received by Emetu after their admission was conducted by the party’s National Secretary, Iheanacho Obioma. (theoversightnews.com)

Speaking on behalf of the new members, Barrister Priscilla Emeham said they joined the Labour Party after considering the development agenda of the Otti administration and pledged to contribute to the state’s progress.

Emetu has also used other public engagements to advocate peaceful political participation and unity despite differences in political affiliation.
