The 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Abia State, and the 15 Brigade, Awka, Anambra State, have strengthened operational cooperation aimed at improving security across the two neighbouring states.

The renewed collaboration followed a courtesy visit by the Commander of 15 Brigade, Brigadier General S. Ahmadu, to the Commander of 14 Brigade, Brigadier General A.M. Dikko, at the 14 Brigade Headquarters in Ohafia on Thursday.

The engagement focused on improving cooperation between the two formations, which operate under the 82 Division Area of Responsibility.

During the visit, Brigadier General Ahmadu said the meeting was intended to build on the existing relationship between the brigades and identify areas where closer coordination could improve their operations.

He specifically highlighted joint operations, intelligence sharing and the management of the border between Abia and Anambra as areas requiring sustained cooperation.

Ahmadu also commended the 14 Brigade for its continued efforts to address security challenges in the South-East.

Responding, Brigadier General Dikko described the visit as timely and strategically important, stressing the need for neighbouring military formations to maintain close operational links.

He said sustained cooperation between the two brigades would be important in countering criminal activities and preserving the security gains recorded in the region.

Dikko also reaffirmed his commitment to the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, particularly in developing a professional and combat-ready Nigerian Army.
